Natural interest in the course and willingness to work are two things essential to success. Accurate thinking is the way to scientific success. You are therefore, in a good position to expect real success in your studies. I am propelled to write this by my inner mind. You like reading and have much natural interest in reading. You are willing to work and increase your knowledge of studies as evidence by your performance in your studies. Your enthusiasm and rate of understanding have increased with technological studies. Study, therefore as professor Tesi Raji once puts it is” to find a career to which you are adapted by nature, and then to work hard at it, is the formula to success” The value of education is immeasurable. A great philosopher once described education as “a companion which no misfortune can depress, no crime can destroy, no foes can alienate, no despotism can enslave”. Without it what is a man? Hence without Engineering and technology, the global systematic reasons turns to zero. Education does not stop with mere acquisition of qualification, it is meant to provide true sound knowledge and to enable man to achieve the far-reaching purpose of discovering self. Many people die with some parts of them undiscovered, for instance, Late professor Awojobi who died without his potentials discovered. He happened to be one of the vibration Engineers in Nigeria. True education will eradicate these ills, if we accord education the right value, then no pain must be spared to get it. Wallace S. Read of the Institute of Electrical Engineers(IEE) stated “it all starts very early in life when the attraction of practical rewarding career, full of interest challenges, draws one into the professions.” Have you ever racked your brains over a problem until you are despaired of solving it? Then suddenly, the solution has come to you as if it were, from the blue? After groping about it in darkness of perplexity, you have come all at once into the light of understanding and you have ask yourself ”why didn’t I see that before?” An eminent mathematician once said “I have always found that, when there was something I did not quite grasp, after further study, perhaps of something quite different, it sudden comes to me. The downtown of the national economy can only be halted and reversed by increased human development through contribution to educational development. However, sound technological education is inevitable, it is the launching pad for sustainable industrial social and economical development of this great nation. If the energies of the human resources are properly harnessed, Nigeria, can be transformed into economically buoyant country like ; Japan, Britain and U.S.A.. To achieve these engineering and technological goals in Nigeria, the following has to be taken into cognizance, the institutions of learning, Engineering bodies such as Nigeria Society of Engineers(NSE), Council for Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) by governmental bodies and industrialists. Therefore, the engineering programmes must be taken into cognizance to advance the nation’s technical requirements as well as management of human and material resources to prepare the graduates for the challenges and tasks ahead. The governmental bodies and industrialist should assist in sharpening the course of technological development of Nigeria by encouraging the undergraduates in carrying out projects, offering useful and constructive suggestion to the institution that harness technological development for the future engineers, by creating a forum for discussing technological advancement for the development of the nation.
